Fault Could Lead to Electrical Problems in Triumph Motorcycles
Owners of some Triumph Speed Triple R and Speed Triple S motorcycles sold in Australia will be asked to return their bike to a dealership to have a possible electrical system fault rectified.
The recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and affects Triumph Motorcycles that carry a VIN between this range – 735337 to 854938.
What are the defects?
The recall notice advises a bracket may interfere with the link lead, resulting in damage to the outer protective sheathing and over time potentially exposing the wire.
Contact between the bracket and the exposed wire may lead to an electrical short.
What are the hazards?
In some cases, the electrical short may cause an engine stall without warning.
What should Triumph owners do?
Affected owners will be contacted by direct mail and are asked to contact their nearest Triumph dealer to arrange an inspection and repair of the vehicle.
